CS Amina Reacts After Uhuru Removed Her From Education Ministry

CS Amina Mohamed, on Friday, reacted after President Uhuru Kenyatta issued an executive order moving her from the Education Ministry to the Sports docket.

Via her official social media account, CS Amina expressed her gratitude to the Head of State for giving her the opportunity to serve under three ministries during his leadership.

"It is with humility and high honour that I thank His Excellency President Kenyatta for according me the opportunity to serve as CS in Foreign Affairs, Education and now Sports," she tweeted.

She further congratulated her successor, Prof George Magoha whom she worked closely with while in the Education Ministry.

"I congratulate my colleague in the sector Exams Council Chairman Prof. George Magoha on his nomination. I thank all the sector players and development partners for their tremendous support throughout my headship at the Ministry," she stated.

CS Amina noted that even though more still needed to be done at the Ministry, her team had made huge strides in deepening the sector's reform agenda highlighting some of the accomplishments she had managed in slightly more than a year at the helm.

"We delivered credible 2018 national examinations, successful CBC roll-out, near 100% transition from primary to secondary (93 percent and rising) progressive TVET and University reforms, among others," she added.

As Magoha is slated to take over as the Ministry head after he officially exits the exams council this month, Amina will replace CS Rashid Echesa who was fired from the position.

Her new appointment makes her the first female to head the Ministry of Sports, Culture and Heritage.
