Migori Governor Okoth Obado has broken his silence over allegations that he conspired with Justice Jackton Ojwang' to build a road to his residence, in exchange for a favourable ruling in a case.
The county head accused the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) of doing shoddy investigations, adding that he never gave Ojwang' any favours to give a favourable ruling on a matter involving Sugar Board of Kenya.
He stated that the decision by the JSC to link him to corruption was misguided and called for politicians kind of politics.
"There is a lot of noise, a lot of propaganda out there. You saw them dragging Justice Ojwang' and me. The county government has never constructed a private road to Justice Ojwang'. That's a public road.
"Even if you visit the road, look at its current status, you can't even imagine what they are saying. This is a pure witch-hunt. It's propaganda that should be discouraged," Obado commented.
The governor insisted that he was trying his best to develop his county but his distractors were not letting him have a piece of mind.
On Wednesday, the JSC under the leadership of Chief Justice David Maraga recommended President Uhuru Kenyatta to form a tribunal that would investigate the conduct of Justice Ojwang', following misconduct and bribery claims.
Maraga also regretted that the judge had ignored summons by the Judicial Service Commission to defend himself in light of the allegations against him.
JCS ruled that there was sufficient evidence to conclude that Ojwang' had obtained favours, among them having a road going to his home done by the county government.
Should the tribunal find Ojwang' guilty, he will become the fourth judge after James Mutava, Nancy Barasa, and Philip Tonui to be hounded out of judiciary due to corruption-related cases.
