DP William Ruto Breaks Silence on Impeachment Debate

Deputy President William Ruto, on Friday, finally addressed the impeachment row initiated by Siaya Senator James Orengo.

Speaking in Vihiga County, the DP held that he would remain second in command until the 2022 polls.

“They are disturbed that Ruto is here and there. Let me ask, do we have two deputy presidents in Kenya?” the DP posed.

He assured that he was ready to face off with his opponents in the next election cycle stating that he would not pay attention to political distractors in his quest to serve Kenyans.

“What we don’t want is politics of people masterminding things for their own selfish interests,” he added.

While speaking during the prayer mass of Paul Njoroge's family at St Michael's Catholic Church in Nakuru, DP Ruto stated that the Jubilee government was keen on delivering its promises to Kenyans.

"We are known for development plans, we don't engage in meaningless politics. We agreed that we shall move ahead under the leadership of Uhuru Kenyatta where shall unite Kenyans and drive development," he stated.

On his part, during the launch of the second African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) in State House on Friday, President Uhuru Kenyatta stated he would continue spearheading efforts to unite all Kenyans adding that the aim of his call for a united country is not political.

“When we say we want to be committed to bringing Kenyans together this is not a political agenda. There is no political intention of hurting this person or fighting this person,” he stated.

He urged politicians not to politicise the efforts to unite Kenyans because there was no hidden political motive.

“Let us stop politicising everything. This is a challenge we have as a country and we can only deal with it together,” he added.

President Kenyatta also called on Kenyans to be united in the war on corruption because the country has to deal with the vice in order to achieve progress.
