Samburu Governor Moses Lenolkulal Kasaine was on Tuesday morning arrested over graft allegations.
Reports reaching Kenyans.co.ke news desk indicate that he has been taken to EACC headquarters for questioning.
His arrest comes after DPP Noordin Haji ordered his prosecution, his deputy Julius Leseeto and 11 sitting, ex-chief officers over a Ksh84 Million fuel scam.
In a statement, Haji conveyed that investigations established that the governor was trading with the county government through Oryx Service Station for the supply of fuel since the 27th March 2013 to date.
"The governor failed and/or neglected to disclose his interest in the said service station. It is clear that the governor engaged in conduct that is expressly prohibited in law and in clear violation of the constitutional principles governing the conduct of public and state officers," Haji noted.
He recommended that they be charged and prosecuted with conspiracy to commit an economic crime, abuse of office and conflict of interest.
