Auma Obama's Project Yet to Kick-off a Year After Launch

Founder and director of Sauti Kuu Resource Centre in Kogelo, Auma Obama, disclosed that the establishment would take a while to be declared fully operational.

Dr Obama spoke to the Daily Nation following numerous rumbles among local residents that the centre was abandoned.

“We are developing the training programme in conjunction with partners, both national and international,” Dr Obama disclosed to the publication via email.

The 44th US President Barack Hussein Obama officially launched the centre back on July 16, 2016, in a colorful event.

The Sauti Kuu centre founder affirmed that all was well and that the delays were just due to a few fund-related issues that were being addressed.

"We are also in the process of equipping the centre with the necessary machinery for each course,” she added.

Project director, Dan Oduor stated that a lack of sponsors was responsible for the experienced delays, citing that they had received funding for the construction of the facilities but were yet to receive funding for furniture and other equipment.

"We are yet to get sponsors to furnish the facility with various study equipment and machinery,” he divulged.

The core work of Sauti Kuu is to bring sustainable economic development to the region in which it operates.

Mr Oduor added that children were benefiting from the sporting activities at Sauti Kuu as well as free lunch during weekends.
