Kenyan billionaire Narendra Raval has revealed that he will work at his new post as a University Chancellor for free and instead channel his entire salary towards helping needy students at the institution.
Raval, who is a billionaire, was featured on Forbes Africa's Richest list in 2015, was in March appointed by President Uhuru Kenyatta as the Chancellor of Egerton University.
Raval further revealed that he would spend any other allowances he would receive at the institution towards funding the education of the needy students.
Taking to social media, the billionaire further vowed that none of his companies would supply materials to the institution unless they were free.
Raval has vast properties that span five sectors including Aviation and Steel processing .
Some of his companies include Devki Steel Mills Limited, National Cement Company Limited ( Simba Cement) and Maisha Mabati Mills Ltd.
This was, however, not the first time the billionaire was giving back to the community. In 2017, Raval, during an interview with Citizen TV at his office, promised to give half of his net worth to causes in Education, Health and social programmes to benefit the poor.
His net worth was valued at Ksh. 41.2 billion in 2015 by Forbes Africa Magazine.
Raval replaced Prof Shem Wandiga as Chancellor of Egerton University who had previously been appointed by President Uhuru in 2013.
Before his appointment, the professor was the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration and Finance, at the University of Nairobi.
