Officer Who Gives His Ksh20K Earnings to Charity

Daniel Muigai Wambui is a Kenya Defence Forces officer who works as a musician and visual artist as a part-time job.

Muigai narrated that his first song, which he did in memory of comrades who lost their lives in war, was titled Baragoi.

From his music and visual art, the officer earns Ksh 20,000 at most a month and gives it all to charity because he states that he believes in giving to the less fortunate.

"I have been doing this as long as I can remember, but only got into singing in 2012," Muigai stated.

"It’s important to touch the lives of the less fortunate in our society and leave an impact," he cited.

The 32-year-old is currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science at Nakuru University. However, he stated that it can be a difficult task which he has learnt to manage.

"I’ve come to learn what matters is making maximum use of my available time while off duty to grow and nurture my passions," he noted.

Speaking to The Standard, Muigai narrated that some of the challenges he goes through include stiff competition and corruption in the industry as managers deny them of their dues.

He added that the public is also doubtful of his capabilities as most do not hold security officers in high regard.
