The outlawed Kakemega killer gang known as 42/14 brothers reportedly stabbed a 7-year-old boy to death on Sunday night in Matungu, Busia County
Reports by the Nation stated that the victim was born in the area and was a Standard one pupil at Bulimbo Star Academy in Matungu.
Further reporting by The Standard indicated that the boy was stabbed severally in the abdomen while at his home.
The latest gruesome murder comes barely a day after four suspects linked to the killer gang were arrested and questioned.
Interior Cabinet Secretary, Fred Matiang'i, and the recently appointed Inspector General, Hillary Mutyambai, had visited the area four days ago.
They assured residents that they would hunt down the notorious gang members to the last individual, before going on to deploy a special battalion of the feared GSU police unit.
The brutal stabbing of the young boy has thus sent the locals into panic as it happened right under the nose of the recently deployed police forces.
Notably, former Sports and Heritage Cabinet Secretary (CS) Rashid Echesa, who had been arrested last Friday for questioning, was released on Sunday evening after investigators were unable to find any links between him and the ghastly murders.
Nandi Hills police boss, David Nyabuto, disclosed that they simply couldn't find any concrete evidence linking the former CS to the notorious gang.
“He is, however, expected to appear before the Directorate of Criminal Investigations in Kakamega for further questioning,” the police boss divulged in regards to the former CS.
