Blow to Gov Nyong'o as Court Finds Him Guilty in Multi-Million Scandal

Kisumu Governor, Anyang’ Nyong’o and his sister, Risper Nyong’o, have dealt a blow after the court found them guilty in a multi-million shillings scandal on Thursday.

The two have been found guilty of contempt for refusing to include their nephews on the inheritance list for the property that had been left behind by their father, Hesbone Shimei.

The governor had made an appeal after justice Thripsisa Cherere, in October 2018, ordered that the court was satisfied the petitioners were entitled to the property of the deceased.

Nyong’o had argued that they were dissatisfied and aggrieved by the judgment as grounds for the appeal.

Cherere cited that the grant which gave the two control of the multi-million property was illegal.

The judge had ordered Nyong’o and the sister to include their sisters’ children as beneficiaries of the property which they appealed.

Nyongo’s nephews, Kenneth Okuthe and Geoffrey Omondi sued the governor and his sister for leaving some relatives out of the list of beneficiaries of their late father’s assets.

The property included a 100-acre piece of land in Miwani and flats on Jogoo road in Nairobi, parcels of land in Manyatta, Tamu, Milimani and East Rata in Seme sub-county.

Justice Cherere stated that the two will be sentenced on May 28, 2019.
