Sakaja Bags Presidential Award

Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja has been awarded a prestigious presidential award; Chief of the Order of the Burning Spear (C.B.S.) by President Uhuru Kenyatta following his record legislative tenure that has seen him pass numerous amends in the Senate.

The Chief of the Order of the Burning Spear is the second highest category of the awards which is equally divided into the Chief of the Order of the Burning Spear (C.B.S.), Elder of the Order of the Burning Spear (E.B.S.) and Moran of the Order of the Burning Spear (M.B.S.).

It is usually awarded to citizens who have performed remarkably in their different lines of work and career in ways that bring positive impact to the nation.

The youthful legislator confirmed to Kenyans.co.ke that his award was a reflection of the State's trust in his legislation and that he was happy to have been feted graciously.

Below is a list of bills that Sakaja has sponsored as a nominated MP from 2013 to 2017 and as a Senator:

1. Public Procurement and Disposal (Amendment) Bill which provides that women, youth and persons with disabilities get 30% of all the government tenders and contracts.

2. National Employment bill which provides for a comprehensive institutional framework for employment management.

The National Employment Authority was officially launched on May 17, 2019.

3. Private Security Regulation bill which provides for a framework for cooperation between private security companies and the national security organs.
