Angry Kenyans Dress Down Leaders Over National Prayer Breakfast

Angry netizens took to social media to express their disappointment and pent up anger concerning the hypocritic acts of the leaders who participated in the National Prayer Breakfast session that was led by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The annual national event held at Safari Park, Nairobi, was graced by various leaders, parliamentarians, South Sudan President Salva Kiir and international delegates.

However, agitated citizens criticized the event based on various allegations. During the session, Uhuru stated, in his speech, that leaders should speak less and work more.

"If only, just for a moment, we could all just stop talking and put into practice what we have said today, Kenya would be a different country in less than five years," he said.

According to netizens, it was hypocritical of “thieves” to congregate in one place praying to God and such acts were tantamount to mocking Him.

Kenyans on Twitter put the leaders underfire questioning the significance of the overly expensive prayer breakfast when Kenyans in the North Eastern region were subjected to severe hunger pangs.

Jerusa Ambira complained that “Ordinary Kenyans go to church or kneel in their houses to pray. But our president and elected leaders must spend taxpayers' money to pray for they must eat sausage and bacon at a five-star hotel to pray. This as children are out of school due to hunger,”

Another netizen, Dan Songa Otieno lamented, “Politicians have mastered the art of manipulating and convincing a religious population when most Kenyans have not even taken breakfast. We all need a brain surgeon.”

Based on the rise of various money laundering cases, most social media activists trolled the “repentant” leaders for misusing poor taxpayers money instead of addressing problems of unemployment and the rising murder cases.

Mikima Komulo stated, “Sometimes you can ask yourself whether God is really interested in the governance and politics of a country. People who plunder national resources, sow seeds of discord among communities, and kill innocent people just go scot-free.”

Dr.Lumala said, “Faith without works is dead. Our leaders must commit to walk the talk and not merely show up for the breakfast and cameras. A lot of bad things have happened after last year's prayer breakfast."

"The National Prayer Breakfast is another waste of tax payer’s money, instead of doing the obvious to solve our problems, we hide in prayers,” Bonface osano noted.

President Kiir also got a taste of this social media savagery with netizens rebuking his presence in the prayers.

A Twitter user who goes by Elvis Kerabu Amen tweeted, "This National Prayer breakfast is nonsensical if the likes of President Kiir who is the butcher baboon of his people can be allowed to attend. It reminds me of crocodiles tears of the Chief Looter, yule jamaa wa fake degree (the fake degree guy)!!!"

The parliamentarians choir was equally teased for terrible singing despite having printed out lyrics of the hymn.
