Two Congolese men believed to have played a pivotal role in the attack of Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko’s daughter, Saumu Mbuvi and Lamu Senator Anwar Loitiptip are being tracked in a manhunt launched by detectives attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
Saumu and Anwar were attacked at a nightclub on Madaraka Day. Police are also investigating a company that was in charge of security of the building where the two were attacked.
The two Congolese suspects have been identified as Innocent Mazuri and Makambo.
“We are looking for the two individuals who are still at large. I am sure we shall capture them,” said a detective who spoke in anonymity.
On Friday morning, the owner of Coalition Security Services, Stephen Maindi Ngetich denied that the attackers worked for his company.
The other two suspects linked to the attack, Mwambu Firukha Mohammed and David Kombo Lucas, were on different days this week arraigned in court.
Kombo was released on a Kshs20,000 bond. He is said to have been arraigned in court without the knowledge of Kasarani police boss Peter Kimani and the DCIO Mwenda Meeme.
Senator Loitiptip, on Thursday night, handed in his P3 form to detectives who are following up the case.
In a statement filed at the Kasarani police station, Saumu Mbuvi, who was with the senator at the time, told police that she had been with the senator at a club that Saturday night watching the UEFA Champions League finals and had excused herself to the washrooms when she was attacked.
The duo was later attacked outside the nightclub by a gang of six who were armed with clubs and metals.
