Jeff Koinange Surprises Managing Director With Cake on Citizen TV [VIDEO]

Citizen TV's Jeff Koinange, on Wednesday evening, surprised one of his guests who was celebrating her birthday.

Kenya Breweries Limited Managing Director, Jane Karuku, was part of the guests on JKLive and towards the end of the show, Jeff ordered that a cake be brought into the studio, for her.

The rest of the visitors, Isuzu East Africa MD, Rita Kavashe and Mediacom MD, Serah Katusia, joined the news anchor in singing a happy birthday song to the KBL boss.

He then disclosed that it was her employees who planned the surprise.

"It is your staff that did this. They said that we have to celebrate and we are honoured to do that," Jeff stated.

The MD has risen to head a company which operates in a male-dominated industry.

Before KBL, she was the president of the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (Agra).

She has held senior positions in Cadbury’s East & Central Africa as managing director before joining Telkom Kenya as deputy chief executive.

She was also at Farmer’s Choice and Kenya Co-operative Creameries and a former member of Barclays Bank of Kenya board.

Her advice to women who want to climb the corporate ladder is that, they have to be clear about what they want in life.

"Once you determine what you want to be at 70-years-old, work backward to what you need to do," she spoke during a past interview with Business Daily.

"Mentorship for me isn’t meet-ups, it is a way of life. Have you ever met a passionate waiter and you are like, oh wow, I wish I loved my job like they do?" she added.
