The Yatani family is probably counting its blessings one by one after the series of good news it received in the past one day.
This comes after the 61 billion Dam scandal case that involved former Treasury CS Henry Rotich, his PS Kamau Thugge, and 26 others.
On Wednesday, President Uhuru Kenyatta reshuffled his cabinet following the dam scandal involving Rotich.
Uhuru named the current CS for the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, Hon. (Amb.) Ukur Yatani Kanacho, in Acting Capacity as the CS for National Treasury and Planning.
Seemingly, top jobs are a Yatani affair. In a list of shortlisted candidates for the National Land Commission, Ukur's wife, Gutamo Yatani Kinacho, stood out.
Gutamo was among the 50 candidates shortlisted for 8 posts in the NLC.
Gutamo who is a PhD holder, is also a Commissioner for the National Gender and Equality Commission.
She holds an MBA in Human Resource Management from the University of Nairobi as well as a Bachelor's Degree in Education from Moi University.
Commissioner Gumato formerly worked as an undersecretary in the Office of the President, having worked as a board chair for the Integrated Pastoralist Development (IPAD).
She is currently the convener of the Minorities and Marginalized Department at the Commission.
Together with her husband, Dr. Gumato founded the Kanacho Nomadic Educational Foundation in 2009.
The charitable community development agency was first set up to address education and rural poverty challenges in northern Kenya.
Later on, it went ahead to empower the pastoral communities, and began efforts to reduce poverty and vulnerability among pastoral communities through transformational and sustainable development.
