The National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF), on Thursday, reshuffled its entire senior staff of six people.
According to a report released by the insurance, the move was necessitated by its commitment to enhancing service delivery in line with President Uhuru Kenyatta's Universal Health Care Big 4 agenda.
"In his speech, H.E. the president during the launch of UHC on 13 th December 2018 directed reforms in the key institutions involved playing major roles in attainment of Universal Health Coverage
(UHC).
"In line with this priority, the Ministry of Health has been spearheading reforms and transformation in the Health Sector towards accelerating achievement of UHC. In these reforms, NHIF had been identified as key to deliver UHC," read the statement in part.
In the new changes, Abdulahi Issack Ali has been appointed as the new head of the Eastern and Northern regions. He was given the top job because of his experience as a manager.
Samson Kuhora is now the head of the Benefits and Claims department in acting capacity assisted by Judy Karimi and Julia Ouko.
Other changes included Mzee Hamisi who has been transferred from Lamu station to serve in the ICT department at the institution's headquarters.
Phyllis Nyakiba was moved to head regional marketing while Robert Otom will serve as the acting head of registration and compliance.
Gilbert Osoro was made the Public Education Manager because of his background knowledge of the fund’s products.
"Priority has been given to Operations and Quality Assurance Directorate which is the core business of the Fund. Changes have also been made in the regional offices which are core in coordinating the fund's functions across the whole republic," continued the statement.
With the changes, the Board is confident, that this new line up will move its reform agenda towards a desired NHIF for the republic of Kenya.
