Fight Erupts at ODM Kibra Nominations

A fight erupted on Saturday, September 7, at the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Kibra nominations when two voters clashed in the queue.

A witness at the scene stated that the two women fought after one confronted the other for having intimate relations with her husband.

"One woman confronted the other at the polling station because her husband spent the night at her house. They accidentally met at a polling station and caused drama," one Philip Nyamai posted on Twitter.

There was more drama as ODM's Secretary-General, Edwin Sifuna, was confronted by voters who lamented that their names were missing from the register as seen in a video by Kenyans.co.ke.

"The eagerness to vote is evident but there are concerns of the register being inaccurate," one Maimaji lamented on Twitter.

There were reports of low turnout due to the bad weather experienced in the morning. However, the number rose over time.

Earlier on Friday, September 6, ODM Communication's Director, Phillip Etale, debunked rumours that ODM had met secretly to decide on a nominee.

"Forget the rumours doing rounds on social media about some meeting somewhere in Nairobi.

"The ODM party will hold its nomination to elect the party candidate in the Kibra by-election. The candidate who wins in our nominations will win the by-election," Etale wrote on social media.

ODM is expected to announce an aspirant who will face off with Jubilees's McDonald Mariga
