Nominated MP Maina Kamanda is seemingly having a rough time with churchgoers after he got into trouble at a church for the second time after barely a week.
According to a video seen by Kenyans.co.ke, it seems the lawmaker was blocked from accessing St Paul’s AIPCA church in Nanyuki by irate youth waving placards.
The protesters accused the 68-year-old legislator of fighting with young politicians with one placard conspicuously reading "Maina stop fighting your grandchildren."
They cited frustrations from the MP while claiming that their region favoured leaders from the Jubilee's Tangatanga faction.
The lawmaker was blocked together with other leaders allied to the Kieleweke faction of the Jubilee Party.
According to a report by the Daily Nation, Kamanda, however, gained access into the church and made a speech urging all politicians to stop politicking and support President Uhuru Kenyatta's development agenda.
Just a week ago, the MP was kicked out of a church in Murang'a after deferring with Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro during a fundraiser.
At the time, Nyoro wanted to be the one to coordinate the event, which was held at Gitui Catholic Church, and when that did not happen, his supporters resorted to fistfights.
Kamanda had invited Nyoro onto the podium to give a vote of thanks who then turned the speech against the nominated MP and his brigade.
“The worse came when Nyoro said he will not allow people from Nairobi led by Kamanda to take control of his Kiharu constituency,” stated one of the MCAs allied to Kamanda.
Nyoro was later arrested and released in connection with the altercation that disrupted the then church event.
