Bishop's Tough Demand After Female MP's Drunken Drama in Church

The African Independent Pentecostal Church (AIPCA) bishop, Ndirangu Ngunjiri, has demanded an apology from the Laikipia Women Representative, Catherine Waruguru, after she disrupted an ongoing church service at AIPCA Nanyuki.

The Woman Representative was accompanied by her supporters, who were allegedly drunk, when she stormed inside the church forcing nominated MP, Maina Kamanda, to exit using another door to avoid confrontation.

The bishop asked political leaders to avoid taking advantage of the youth to cause disruptions in churches.

He further called on the lawmaker to make an apology to the Laikipia East Diocese leadership and to God.

On Sunday September 15, the bishop was forced to chase Waruguru out of the church because of the commotion she had caused.

He also prevented her from addressing the congregation.

"I had received intelligence reports that Waruguru would storm the church and that is why I informed Kamanda to leave using another door once she gets in. She had not been invited to the church and she meant to cause chaos," he earlier stated.

The bishop added that Kamanda had honoured a personal invite to attend the service and he would be present during another service in October.

"Actually Kamanda will be here also on October 13 in preparation for the visit of the head of state President Uhuru Kenyatta. Waruguru should seek forgiveness from God for attempting to disrupt the church service. But thank God she did not manage,” the Bishop stated.
