DP Ruto Joins Mariga in Kibra Race [PHOTOS]

Deputy President William Ruto on Wednesday, September 25, joined Jubilee Candidate McDonald Mariga during campaigns in Kibra.

The DP stated that they deliberated on issues of incomplete projects in Kibra, Nairobi County with groups of youth, women and men.

"We will institute a working mechanism, which will restructure and conclude the programmes, under the reformed NYS, to the benefit of the Kibra community," he stated.

On Wednesday, September 18, President Uhuru Kenyatta, officially endorsed Mariga as the Jubilee candidate for the Kibra seat.

In a statement sent to newsrooms, the president wished the former soccer star, who was accompanied by the Party’s secretary-general, Raphael Tuju, success in the by-elections scheduled for November 7.

After the announcement, DP Ruto took to Twitter to signal that it was all systems go in the race to clinch the seat.

"Now that Mariga Jubilee’s Kibra candidate was cleared by IEBC and formally unveiled today by our Party leader, it is all systems go. The ball is squarely in the court of all of us leaders serving under President Uhuru Kenyatta, party members and supporters to deliver the seat," he stated.

Over the weekend, Mariga toured the constituency conducting door to door campaigns to drum up support for himself in the highly contested mini polls. 

Mariga delved into development matters and also spoke on how he would work together with the locals to improve their lives.
