Mariga Takes Kibra by Storm [PHOTOS]

Jubilee Party’s candidate in the upcoming Kibra by-election on September 20, and 21 took his campaign to the next level by meeting his potential constituents.

He toured the constituency conducting door to door campaigns to drum up support for himself in the highly contested mini polls.

The previous day, he had addressed residents from Makina, Laini Saba, Sarangombe, Lindi and Woodley wards at Nyayo Stadium.

Kibra by-election aspirant McDonald Mariga convened his supporters at Nyayo Stadium on September 19, 2019.

Mariga delved into development matters and also spoke on how he would work together with the locals to improve their lives.

His candidature has attracted a lot of drama as his challengers have used many ways to try and lock him out of the race.

The first hurdle was his name missing from the IEBC voters’ register, but after he was later cleared, a petition was lodged to oppose his nomination.

So far he has managed to secure an endorsement from Jubilee Party Leader President Uhuru Kenyatta even with reports that there was division in the ruling party about the ex-footballer’s candidature.

Mariga is facing stiff competition from ODM’s Imran Okoth who has even received support from Jubilee quarters.

The president’s allies led by Nominated MP Maina Kamanda have openly thrown their weight behind the late Ken Okoth’s brother, Imran.

“Kibra is the stronghold of ODM. We have fielded a candidate as Jubilee, the candidate was put there by Jubilee, but as a person, I will be with the (candidate) that has been nominated by ODM,” the legislator stated during a press conference at ODM headquarters.

Kibra by-election aspirant McDonald Mariga has been conducting an intensive campaign to clinch the seat on November 7, 2019.
