Atwoli Mocks Waititu After Embarrassing Podium Moment on Citizen TV [VIDEO]

Cotu secretary-general Francis Atwoli on Wednesday, October 23, tore into Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu after he was thrown out of President Uhuru Kenyatta's VIP dais during the Sunday, October 20, Mashujaa day celebrations.

Speaking on Citizen TV's JKL show, Atwoli told host, Jeff Koinange, that Waititu made an uncalculated move in choosing to sit on the front row during the celebrations despite the fact he was "no longer the Kiambu governor."

"If I were Waititu, I would arrive there and stand, like what we do, as I wait to be shown where to sit. You can not go there and behave like you are still a governor. He should have gone there as a Kenyan, but he was not to choose where to sit until he was directed," Atwoli pointed out.

He went on to explain that had he followed that protocol he would have been saved from the embarrassment that he faced that day.

"Even the Bible says that when you are invited to a function, do not choose where to sit but wait until you are shown," Atwoli hilariously added.

During the Mashujaa Day fete held at Mama Ngina Waterfront in Mombasa, the Kiambu governor arrived earlier than other governors and moved around the VIP section looking for a seat until he settled on one reserved for Mombasa Woman Representative Asha Hussein.

The Daily Nation reported that a few minutes later, some attendants approached Waititu and had a quick chat with him, after which he apparently received a phone call and walked out of the dais.

Quoting unnamed sources, the Daily Nation claimed that that order was given by the State House team organising the event since the president was keen on avoiding leaders either facing court cases or under investigation.

Waititu has pending in court case where he is being charged with the loss of Ksh588 million from Kiambu County.
