Panic as Aircraft Wheel Falls Off Mid-Air

A passenger aircraft operated by Silverstone Air lost a wheel during take-off from the Lodwar airstrip on Monday, October 28.

The plane then made an emergency landing at the Moi International Airport Eldoret.

News streaming in indicates that all passengers on board were not harmed in the horrifying ordeal.

Passengers on the aircraft that lost one of its wheels mid-air were rerouted to Nairobi by the airline through another plane.

Kenya Airports Authority and the Airline launched investigations to establish the cause of the October 28 mishap.

In a statement to newsrooms, Silverstone Airline stated that the safety of its passengers come first.

"The captain of the flight decided to divert to Eldoret international airport in the interest of the continued safety of the passengers and the crew. This was a precautionary action and the aircraft landed safely," part of the statement from Silverstone Air read.

On Friday, October 11, another aircraft operated by the same airline crash-landed at the Nairobi National Park after the plane experienced mechanical glitches.

The airplane that was on its way to the Coastal town of Lamu via Mombasa skidded off the runway at Wilson Airport in Langata, Nairobi.

In the October 11 scare, only two out of the 55 passengers including the airline crew were injured according to a report by the Kenya Airports Authority (KAA).

KAA in a statement posted on Twitter reported that only two passengers were slightly injured and that the Aircraft Accident Investigations Directorate under the Ministry of Transport, Infrastructure and Urban Development had launched investigations to establish the cause of the accident.
