Former CS's Special Gift to The Pope After Receiving Her

Ambassador Judi Wakhungu on Thursday, December 20, presented her credentials to Pope Francis where she presented a special gift to him.

Wakhungu, who was appointed the Ambassador of Kenya to the Holy See, the French Republic, Portugal and Serbia, took to Twitter to express her excitement over meeting the Bishop of Rome.

"I'm privileged to present my credential letters to His Holiness Pope Francis. In his address, The Holy Father emphasised peace, reconciliation, and respect for our common home, natural resources and environment," she stated.

She presented the leader of the worldwide Catholic Church with a book titled "Nairobi 5354 FT" a book authored by her sister, Susan Wakhungu-Githuku and niece Natalie Githuku.

The book which was launched in 2017, offered a unique perspective into the fast-paced life in the capital.

"5453 FT" represents the elevation of the city at the Nairobi Railway Station which stands at 5453 feet.

The book's Personal Musings volume combines personal texts and testimonies with photographs and paintings that showcase the working life of Nairobians.

"Nairobi 5453 Ft. doesn’t try to paint a stereotypic picture or tell a clichéd story of a ‘green city in the sun’. Nor does it negate the reality of the city’s magnetic appeal. What it does do is present a multifarious perspective with one book filled with what the authors call ‘Photographic Slices’ and the other sub-titled ‘Personal Musings.’," a 2017 review by the Business Daily stated.
