A search is ongoing for Nairobi businessman Dafton Mwitiki who has reportedly been missing since Wednesday, March 11.
Mwitiki's car, a black Land Rover Discovery, was found dumped in Juja, Kiambu County along the Kimbo-Kiganjo road on Friday, March 13.
An appeal for information on Mwitiki's whereabouts was launched on social media by his associates, among them entertainment industry bigwig Amor Thige.
"Our friend Dafton Mwitiki is missing. His car was found in Juja and there is an ongoing search for him in that area.
"If anyone has any info on his whereabouts, please let us know or report to any police station," Thige wrote on Twitter.
His vehicle was found by security guards conducting a patrol with the missing person report having been filed on Wednesday, March 11.
Mwitiki, a marksman - a person who is skilled in precision shooting using projectile weapons to shoot at high-value targets at longer-than-usual ranges - became known to many Kenyans during the Dusit D2 terror attack in January 2019 pictured at the scene alongside city politician Steve Mbogo.
In the viral image, Mwitiki gripped a Derya-Anakon 12 gauge shotgun as Mbogo stood next to him, also armed and wearing a bulletproof vest.
Mwitiki manages a tour and travels company based in Nairobi.
He was also part of the team that represented Kenya in the 2019 International Defensive Pistol Association (IDPA) Southern Nationals shooting competition in South Africa.
Mwitiki came first in the SPD Marksman Category with a score of 336.99 ahead of his teammate Robert Kibutiri who scored 355.49.
Mwitiki is also a prominent and active member of the National Gun Owners Association (NGOA).
