Kagwe further declared that there would be a closure of any markets, restaurants and eateries within the two areas for the next 15 days.

The CS stated that government quarantine facilities would be occupied by those directed to by the Ministry of Health, adding that the occupants would not be charged.

"This is to facilitate those who feel they won't go for testing due to the cost of quarantine," he explained.

Kagwe stated that the Covid-19 safety measures set by the government had not been made to punish Kenyans, rather, to protect those in both Eastleigh and Mombasa Old Town, who may get the disease from movements of other persons.

"Public transportation is not allowed to go into these areas," he explained.
