Kenya's confirmed Covid-19 cases have risen to 621 after 14 more people tested positive for the virus out of the 922 samples tested in the past 24 hours.
Health CAS Rashid Aman announced this during the daily Covid-19 briefing on Friday, May 8, 2020, at Afya House, adding that 5 more had been discharged, bringing the total recoveries to 202.
The health CAS revealed that all the 14 cases are Kenyans.
9 of the confirmed cases are males while 5 are female, ranging from the age of 11 months to 49 years.
Aman announced that 13 of the confirmed cases were picked up by the surveillance teams, while 1 was from the quarantine facilities.
The cases are spread across the country as follows; Nairobi recorded 10 Mombasa 1, and 1 from Machakos.
CAS Aman urged members of the public to receive recovered patients with warmth to avoid cases of stigmatisation.
He noted that the heavy rainfall experienced in most parts of the country was impounding efforts towards stemming the spread of Covid-19.
Aman stated that the ministry of health was working with the counties to educate the resettled persons on appropriate measures to avoid contraction or spread of the Covid-19 virus.
He further warned members of the public against the unruly behaviour of sneaking out of the restricted areas of Eastleigh and Old Town.
"The issue of sneaking in and out of the restricted areas in a major concern for us. This can only turn us back on the efforts we have put in," CAS Aman reiterated.
He urged Kenyans to help in identifying persons culpable, as they pose a greater danger if they move into other homes.
Health Director General Patrick Amoth revealed that 34 health care workers had tested positive for the virus, amounting to 4 per cent of the total confirmed cases.
He, however, revealed that none had succumbed to the virus.
