A section of Kenyans couldn't hide their excitement on Sunday, July 19, ahead of the anticipated debut of a new show hosted by actress Azziad Nasenya and comedian Mulamwah.

Dubbed The Elite Chef, the production is an online cooking reality show pitting several chefs against each other in a series of challenges.

The chefs will participate in head-on cooking battles, which will result in elimination from the competition for those who lose in each round.

Aside from bagging various prizes, the last chef standing will also battle it out with Mulamwah and Azziad in the final cook-off.

The first episode of the show is expected to premiere on YouTube on Sunday, July 19.

Azziad, who shot to fame with her viral TikTok videos before landing roles on shows including Selina, teased the premise of the new show in a video alongside Mulamwah on July 11, 2019.

Mulamwah was cast as hopeless when it came to the kitchen, with Azziad explaining that the show was also meant to help viewers develop their cooking skills.

An enthusiastic Mulamwah noted that he looked forward to tasting the food in various rounds and, eventually, learning enough to beat the last chef standing.

"People can learn to cook, you know. You can learn slowly. I'm also not perfect. I'm a good chef, but I am not perfect.

"Let us do this competition where people who can cook battle each other while we taste the food, and we also learn how to cook in the process. Before you know, you could be a really good chef," Azziad asserted.

A trailer from the first episode showed Azziad and Mulamwah alongside various contestants, explaining exactly what the show would entail.

Notably, Mulamwah uses his skills as a comedian to add a fun element to the show, making jokes and engaging Azziad in hilarious debates and conversations.

The two are among Kenyan entertainers who have built up large online audiences for their content on platforms including YouTube and TikTok.
