Health CS Mutahi Kagwe on Friday, August 8, fronted Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i for the country's top seat, during his visit to Kisii County.

In a video seen by Kenyans.co.ke, CS Kagwe used an analogy of a pregnant woman to pass across his message to the Abagusii community.

"When you see a woman's belly protuding, it obviously means that she is expectant and you do not have to be told. You have to take care of the pregnancy so that you do not lose the pregnancy," Kagwe stated as  his audience cheered him on.

Speaking at the Kisii County Assembly grounds, Kagwe told the residents that it was not time for political betrayal, adding a vriation of a quote that he has come to be known for.

"If you behave normally, the world will treat you normally,” Kagwe declared.

Some of the other leaders who were in attendance included Kisii Senator Sam Ongeri, MPs Richard Onyonka (Kitutu Chache South), Jimmy Agweny (Kitutu Chache North) Richard Tong’i (Nyaribari Chache) and Kisii Woman Rep Janet Ong’era.

Ongeri backed the Health CS' sentiments stating that Matiang'i had left a political mark in all the dockets that he had served in the country.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, Saboti MP Caleb Amisi dismissed CS Kagwe's endorsement of CS Matiang'i as president in the elections.

"The worst gift politics can give you is careless enthusiasm with misguided ambitions. CS Kagwe should stop campaigning to be CS Matiang'i's running mate in 2022 because they will fail," he asserted.

He stated that the duo should focus on delivering in their respective dockets and urged the CS to concentrate on handling the Covid-19 pandemic in the country.

In July 2019, Matiang'i was endorsed by the Gusii Council of elders for presidency in 2022.The elders likened Matiang'i to David in the Bible and asked him to continue with the good work.

"The elders council have declared to give our total support and respect to Matiang'i to be Gusii main consultant on social, economic and political development matters. Our wish is that other kenyans will recognise this important step," they stated.
