The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has announced the closure of Milimani Law Courts.

In a statement dated Monday, December 14, 2020, JSC explained that services would not be dispensed at the law courts based in Nairobi's Upper Hill from Friday, December 18.

This, the statement added, was to pave way for the scheduled disinfection exercise expected to last for two days.

The statement, which was signed by the registrar of the high court, further indicated that the facility would be closed for three days.

"Consequently, the court will be closed on December 18, 2020, Normal services will resume on the December 21," read the statement in part.

The announcement comes at a time when the country is grappling with the negative effects of Covid-19 pandemic.

Currently, the total number of confirmed cases stand at a high of 92,459, with the virus claiming 1,604 lives in the same period.

At the beginning of the pandemic, then Chief Justice David Maraga closed down courts for almost a month to curb the spread of Covid-19 virus.

Only urgent cases were to be prosecuted, with the process carried out online.

Although court services have resumed, the JSC has remained on the alert to ensure all necessary containment measures are followed to the latter.
