A new state of the art hotel has been opened at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters along Kiambu Road.
The hotel’s operations had already commenced by the official launch was scheduled for Tuesday, January 12 by Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai.
The hotel is part of DCI George Kinoti’s ambitious plan to transform the agency and make it more appealing to the public.
It is run by a private hospitality company under a public-private partnership. Detectives and civilian staff are welcome to try the hotel’s buffet and a variety of African dishes.
The restaurant also doubles as a welfare generating income initiative, whereby part of the revenue will be used to support the DCI dispensary.
In a bid to make the facility a people-friendly place, office protocols are dropped and detectives of different ranks interact freely with civilians.
Fitted with a state of the art interior design, the restaurant is an array of colours, glamorous fabric, luminous lighting and top game furniture.
Its huge windows constantly condition the air as massive aisles offer enough room for movement and social distance.
The cafeteria is separated from the stylish bar which is stacked with a variety of drinks.
During the day, slow ambient music plays on giving a sense of calmness and serenity.
Previously, the DCI officers would have to cross over to the other side of the road at Karura Forest for meals.
The new hotel will save the detectives a lot of working time which would have been wasted in going out in search of food or placing orders from outside.
