A police officer captured on video repairing a road in Nairobi with his bare hands has warmed Kenyans' hearts.

The clip, which was first shared by former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo, showed the officer filling the porthole along Red Hill Road with stones to give motorist a better driving experience.

The man, who was fully clothed in police regalia, was seen carrying the blocks one at a time and dropping them in the gaping pothole.

He had a wheelbarrow and spade which he was using to level the rocks during the exercise.

It is believed that the pothole, which had affected many motorists plying the road, had caused many accidents leading to the damage of vehicles and injuring their users.

"Believe it or not, this is a police officer who decided enough is enough and took it upon himself to cover a pothole that causes accidents along red hill road.

"Inspector General of Police, what would happen if all cops were like this one?" questioned Kabogo.

Many Kenyans were elated by the unidentified officer's zeal to make the world a better place noting that as much as the force had racked up some despicable traits, some individuals were still hardworking and well-mannered.

"Good work. Allow me to also appreciate the fact that the wheelbarrow beside the cop has been of great help to the activity," shared one user.

"Real patriot. While he rehabilitates by hands other big guys just pocket the money meant for such work. We have to appreciate the poor are always the patriots," added another.

Some, however, took an issue with Kabogo over his development record while he served as the governor of Kiambu County.

"But Kabogo, you were Kiambu governor for 5 years. Also, a sitting president is from the same county, but none has ever come up with a solution to curb the Gatitu jam.

"Thika people have to spend 30mins moving in and out of Thika town during morning and evening hours," stated Joan Ngengi.

Nairobians have over the recent months complained over increased potholed roads spotted in Nairobi's downtown section of the Central Business District.

The most recent report by the African Journal of Health Sciences released in 2019 disclosed that some 8.8% of accidents experienced on Kenya Roads are caused by potholes and poorly constructed roads.
