Deputy President William Ruto on Sunday, June 27, dismissed recent political groupings that have seen Kanu Chairman Gideon Moi join forces with ODM Leader Raila Odinga.
Ruto declared that his political opponents would not stop his march to State House, indicating that he was well aware of new formations meant to block him from succeeding President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Speaking at AIC Bomani Church in Machakos County, the DP assured that he would face his opponents head-on and asserted that Kenya must change for the better.
"Hawa watu wanajipanga lakini hata mimi nimejipanga. Hawa wangwana watakiona, watajua hawajui (These people are preparing but I am prepared too. These gentlemen will find it rough)".
Throwing the gauntlet down, he challenged his opponents to engage him on development and prepare for a tough race ahead.
“We are going to challenge each other on the platform of issues and development track-record,” he said.
These statements come hot on the heels of news that Moi, has decamped from the One Kenya Alliance and is reportedly said to be crafting a 2022 coalition with Raila.
Political insiders intimate with the matter have speculated that the alliance had President Uhuru Kenyatta’s blessings.
Gideon reportedly made the move on the advice of the President whose allies have announced they would use every trick to ensure Ruto does not assume the presidency in 2022.
