Cherangany MP Joshua Kutuny on Sunday, July 5, warned lawmakers taking President Uhuru Kenyatta's silence in political matters for granted.

Speaking in Kiambaa Constituency, the MP who is a close ally of President Kenyatta claimed that the Head of State will shock his political opponents in 2022 when he reveals his true colours.

He defended claims of Kenyatta being a lame-duck President, stating that the head of state remained strong but was merely hiding his political card.

"Uhuru is not weak. I am among leaders from the Rift Valley region who are still in Uhuru's government and I want to tell you when the time comes for Uhuru to complete with men, many of you will be shocked," Kutuny cautioned.

The Cherangany MP advised Kiambaa residents to choose a leader who will represent the region well citing a recent report by Mzalendo that shamed MPs who do not speak in parliament.

"It is time for you to elect a leader who will make you proud. Look at Parliament today, there are people who when given the microphone to speak it shows the level of education and character of the people in their area. Don't elect someone who will not speak for you in Parliament," he added.

Kutuny was accompanied by National Assembly Majority Leader Amos Kimunya in Kiambaa where they campaigned for the Jubilee Party candidate Kariri Njama to clinch the upcoming by-election slated for July 15, 2021.

The campaigns have been intense and tolerance has been called by lobby groups between United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and Jubilee Party supporters.

On June 13, a section of UDA supporters faced off with their counterparts from the Jubilee Party rally during Kiambaa campaigns.

Photos and a video seen by Kenyans.co.ke from the event showed a group of youth carrying UDA banners, a wheelbarrow and clad in yellow attires storming the Jubilee caravan. The youth were captured cheering and dancing as their red attire-clad Jubilee counterparts calmly look on.

Njama is a businessman was selected after undergoing interviews at Jubilee headquarters in Pangani, Nairobi on Saturday, May 22.

The exercise was held after the Jubilee Party National Management Committee on Thursday, May 20, announced that it will be conducting nominations through face-to-face interviews.

Njama will face off against UDA's John Njuguna Wanjiku after PEP withdrew it's candidate Raymond Kuria from the much-anticipated polls.

UDA leaders have claimed control over Kiambaa, taunting Jubilee as a dead competitor after the ruling party lost the Rurii Ward and Juja parliamentary elections.
