Senior Counsel Ahmednasir Abdullahi also known as Grand Mullah has cried foul after he was snubbed by Chief Justice Martha Koome at a luncheon on Wednesday, July 14.

Koome hosted the luncheon for members of the Senior Counsel Bar to discuss the future of the Judiciary, digital transformation and clearing the backlog of cases.

In attendance was Senior Counsel Fred Ojiambo, who Koome addressed as the Chairman of the Senior Counsel Bar, a position Ahmednassir also claimed to hold after winning elections.

"Looks like the CJ in her first official engagement with the Senior Counsel Bar has removed me from an elective office and invited an imposter.

"Wise move for the CJ to cease and desist in interfering in Law Society of Kenya (LSK) issues," Grand Mullah satirically remarked.

Ahmednassir and Judiciary Chief Registrar Anne Amadi declined to comment on the politics unfolding within the Judiciary and the LSK, when contacted by Kenyans.co.ke

A section of attorneys, however, sided with Ahmednasir in castigating Koome.

"Senior Counsels who have allowed Fred Ojiambo SC and his former pupils to denigrate the authority of members of LSK and Senior Counsel in elections must start to speak up," lawyer Esther Ang'awa tweeted.

Koome at the luncheon deviated from politics and reaffirmed that the Judiciary will continue to embrace technology as it seeks to accelerate social transformation through access to justice.

“I note with appreciation that the bar and other stakeholders have embraced the ICT changes. As with every novel venture, we are working to resolve the teething problems experienced during the pilot phase.

"Although the Covid-19 pandemic has presented unique challenges to the consumers of justice, it has also revolutionised the way the justice system interacts with technology," the CJ stated.
