Amani National Congress (ANC) escalated the battle for Nasa funds issuing new demands to ODM and plotting a legal duel to end the standoff.

Musalia Mudavadi-led's party stated that ODM did not use the agreed formula enshrined in the NASA constitution to disburse the funds.

Addressing the press on Friday, July 30 in Eldoret, Lugari MP, Ayub Savula, stated that they are moving to court to block ODM from using their funds until the standoff is settled.

Savula, who is ANC Deputy Party leader argued that all the NASA affiliate parties deserve an equal share of the funds.

They have compelled ODM to produce all the financial records detailing all the amounts received from the National Treasury.

"We deserve an equal share of the political parties' money and at the moment, the ANC secretariat is counter-checking the formula ODM has used and what is the agreement. We are ready to move to court and block the usage of the funds until the right formula is applied," Savula stated.

Savula further hit out at ODM for threatening them claiming that it is their political right to receive the funds.

"This is not ODM money.  It is public funds and ODM should not threaten us. It is our right to get funds as per the agreement and we will not beg ODM. You will not run away from the responsibility of being accountable in the distribution of the funds," he insisted.

ODM leader Raila Odinga agreed to share the funds in a written letter addressed to NASA co-principals, revealing that ODM would share Ksh153 million between its principal members, retaining Ksh334.6 million of the funds.

Wiper Party belonging to Kalonzo Musyoka was to receive the lion's share of the funds ODM agreed to release. The party was to receive Ksh70.4 million of the funds.

ANC was to receive the second-largest share amounting to Ksh43.8 million of the sharable funds.
