UPDATE 15:20: ODM leader Raila Odinga on Friday, August 13, joined other Kenyans in calling for the justice of two brothers who died while in police custody.

"If the criminal justice system ever works, it must for this family. I join and endorse the call for #JusticeForKianjokomaBrothers," Odinga stated.

Business came to a standstill in Embu Town on Friday, August 13, as the two Kianjokoma brothers who died in police custody were taken to their final resting place in Kithagari village.

In videos and photos seen by Kenyans.co.ke, boda boda riders escorted the hearses of the two, Benson Njiru, 23, and his brother, 19-year-old Emmanuel Mutura, as they hooted continuously and drew attention to the convoy.

At Kianjokoma primary school, mammoths of mourners including various leaders and residents turned up to support the family and call for justice.  In addition, Kenyans united on Twitter with a hashtag (Justice for Kianjokoma Brothers).

Emotions run high as the family of the deceased wailed in pain upon receiving the hearses.

Each speaker who took to the podium wanted nothing but justice for the two brothers.

Among Leaders who attended the ceremony include; National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi, Members of Parliament Moses Kuria (Gatundu South), Rigathi Gachagua (Mathira), Muriuki Njagagua (Mbeere North), Cecily Mbarire (Nominated), John Muchiri (Manyatta), Embu Woman Representative Jane Wanjuki and Law Society of Kenya President Nelson Havi.

Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua, who spoke during the burial ceremony,  accused Interior CS Fred Matiang'i and PS Karanja Kibicho of dropping their guard in security matters in the Country and instead focusing on the 2022 politics.

Gachagua downplayed Matiang'i's visit to the family of the two brothers, stating that the culprits were well known and should be in custody.

"The perpetrator of this offense is well known to everyone, but I wonder why he is still at large. We have to say the truth, we are tired of such deaths," he stated.

The MP urged President Uhuru Kenyatta to personally take up the matter and visit the bereaved family.

"Only the police are benefiting during the set curfew. Is coronavirus only at night and not during the day?" Gachagua posed.

The two brothers will be buried in one grave at their father’s farm in Kithangari Kianjokoma in Embu North.

The president has since ordered top security officials to establish how they met their deaths while in police custody.
