The Jubilee Party has revealed its stance regarding the Court of Appeal's ruling that upheld the High Court's verdict that had declared the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) as unconstitutional.

Speaking to Nation, party Secretary General Raphael Tuju noted that trying to file an appeal would be a waste of time.

He added that the party would respect the court's decision and shift its direction towards the 2022 General Election.

"The court has spoken, and we have to respect the judgement. It is unlikely we will spend time trying to address any grievances. We will move on," Tuju stated.

Further, he stated that the party would issue a comprehensive statement on the Court of Appeal's decision on Monday, August 23.

His sentiments echoed Orange Democratic Movement leader Raila Odinga's views as he added that he would not appeal the ruling but instead resorted to moving on.

"As we have stated, we shall engage only to the extent that circumstances require. But we feel we have to move on," the ODM boss stated.

However, Solicitor General Kennedy Ogeto stated that the Attorney General’s office was considering a move to challenge the decision arguing that the Supreme Court ought to address key issues from the judgement of the High Court and Court of Appeal.

"I think the political process will continue with the politicians dealing with politics. We are of the strong view that we should go to the Supreme Court," Ogeto stated.

The Court of Appeal upheld the decision by the five-judge bench of the High Court who declared the BBI unconstitutional.

This led to the BBI proponents filing an appeal at the Court of Appeal with hopes of reviving the agenda - a result of the 2018 handshake that saw President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila put aside their differences and form an agreement.
