A youthful politician eyeing the Dagoretti North parliamentary seat was forced to deal with his father over his 2022 campaign strategy.

Kiigen Koech, the son of former Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) CEO Dr Davy Koech, faced his father's wrath after sharing a post published on his twitter handle.

The aspirant shared a photo with a woman with the caption 'Door to door is my campaign strategy.'

Dr Koech, a revered scientist who is credited with founding KEMRI, was not pleased with his son's strategy and offered a rare moment when a Kenyan parent corrected a scion on social media.

His post warranted comments from Kenyans, among them, his no-nonsense but tech savvy father.

"These are the reasons I tell you to keep off! Shenzi!. That is not a campaign strategy," read his father's response, who was clearly displeased with his son's post.

Koech quickly responded to his father, indicating that his message did not mean he was literally campaigning in that style - but had taken the photo at a party.

"Dad, nilikuwa kwa party tukachapa selfie (I took the selfie at a party). Do not get it twisted, Baba (father)," Kiigen explained.

Kenyans laughed at the online exchange yet marveled at the great relationship between the father and son who have been pricking each other online.

In their previous altercation, the younger Koech got the better of his father who had 'threatened to slap him'. He accused Koech of suffering from a political variant as he had a different political view.

Kiigen vied for Dagoretti North parliamentary seat in 2017 but lost to incumbent Simba Arati of ODM who garnered 48,349 votes. He conceded defeat and congratulated Arati.

He intends to make a second attempt at the seat in 2022.

Aside from the online fun fair, Koech is a professor in Immunology and Molecular medicine.
