Iconic Outspan Hotel Put up for Sale

The iconic Outspan Hotel, which has been a centerpiece for the residents of Nyeri town, is on sale.

According to a brochure seen by Kenyans.co.ke, real estate agency Knight Frank indicated that the iconic establishment is seeking offers within the range of Ksh550 million.

"The hotel, which is owned by Aberdare Safari Hotels (ASH), therefore, a transfer of property title or shares is optional subject to negotiations."

"The leasehold title for a term of 99 years from June 1, 2011," the Knight Frank team stated.

The hotel is situated on a 120-acre property in Nyeri town. Originally built in 1927, the hotel is hailed for maintaining its colonial architecture design. 

The property consists of a hotel with ancillary buildings set on 20 acres of a garden that borders the Chania River, giving customers an excellent view of Mount Kenya.

Accommodation at the hotel comprises of 45 guest rooms, split across 28 standard rooms, 14 deluxe rooms and three cottages, 19 rooms, each installed with fireplaces, Satellite TV, Wi-Fi and telephones.

The hotel is synonymous with Lord Baden Powell "Paxtu" Museum that is dedicated to the Boy Scouts Movement.

"We have serious interest in this venture because of the Paxtu and its significance in the scout movement, and would be keen to preserve the historical hotel.

"The board will be meeting to discuss the same,”  International Scouts Association board member Anthony Kitonga stated about the offer.
