Bevalyn Kwamboka, a student who runs an informal business in Nairobi's Donholm area, has shamed nominated Senator Millicent Omanga publicly on twitter for allegedly lying to Kenyans.
The student, who sells chips by the roadside, has called out the Senator claiming that she did not give her any cash as she had earlier mentioned on her social media platforms.
On Tuesday, October 5, Omanga visited Kwamboka at her workplace and gifted her an umbrella and aprons, all branded her name.
The nominated Senator then took photos with Kwamboka, and alongside were three sacks of potatoes, a number of umbrellas and two aprons.
Omanga shared the photos on social media stating that she had empowered Kwamboka by providing her with all she needed to run her business smoothly.
“Bevalyne Kwamboka is now sorted. Umbrella, cash and stock to boost her hustle. Mvua au jua haitamharibia biashara tena (Come shine or rain, she will not have to close her business). Now let's go eat those chips,” she stated.
Her actions were followed with much praise from Kenyans while some even criticized her for choosing to give her stock rather than taking her to school.
Things, however, took a different turn on Thursday, October 7, after Kwamboka gave contradicting statements on her social media handles.
The business lady noted that what Omanga shared was not true.
“For clarification, Millicent Omanga only bought potatoes worth Ksh350, came out of the vehicle with 5 umbrellas, took photos, returned them and gave out one and two aprons. Cash was not included and she only bought potatoes worth Ksh350. The big sacks you all saw in the photo are mine and I bought them with my own money when I started my day,” Kwamboka’s statement read.
Thereafter, Kenyans on twitter accused Omanga of misusing the youths for her own gains.
Upon receiving the information, Omanga said that all she did was to help Kwamboka after she said she needed help, but didn't know that the girl had higher expectations.
