A High Court in Nakuru County has ordered the son of the late tycoon Gilbert Njoroge, famously known as Fai Amario, to pay his sister Ksh134,000 in monthly upkeep as the succession battle wages on.

Reports indicate that Miki Ng'ang'a is currently the administrator of Fai Amario's estate, valued at Ksh487 million. The sister, Marsha Dee, had filed an application seeking to be paid monthly upkeep by her brother and have her debts cleared.

Through her lawyer, Pearlyne Omamo, Marsha noted that her disability incurred a lot of money hence she required funds to cater for her expenses.

"My client has been living with a disability and thus needs money to cater for her educational needs, pay her rent, buy food and medicine until the time the succession matter is concluded,” the lawyer informed the court.

Appearing before Justice Teresia Matheka, lawyer Omamo noted that Fai Amarillo Limited, a liquor manufacturing company that is part of the estate, makes at least Ksh28 million every four months.

Ng'ang'a, however, disputed the claims, noting that the profits were affected by the pandemic and thus the figures were exaggerated. Judge Matheka reviewed the evidence produced in court and ruled in Marsha's favour.

The late tycoon passed away in 2010 due to liver illness, leaving behind a multimillion empire in the process. Amario is remembered for his rich and extravagant lifestyle. Before his demise, the late businessman from Naivasha, bought a gold casket for himself and went ahead to plan every detail of his burial.

He is also remembered for placing newspaper adverts on all prominent dailies to express his message of seeking a wife to marry.

Amario was an ingenious alcohol distiller and winemaker who sponsored his learning in Israel to study the craft at the Wine Institute in Rehovot, nine kilometers from Tel Aviv. Upon returning to Kenya, he established a factory that came up with brands such as Pooler, Medusa, Amario’s Sherry, Uhuru 2000, Kata Pingu, Mahewa, and Cantata.

During his lifetime, the businessman also crossed paths with the law when he was sentenced to serve 9 years at Kamiti Maximum Prison in 2005, after being accused of murdering his two employees.

Upon serving his sentence, Amario was later arrested and charged with robbing businessman Mulraj Kanji Patel of his Toyota Land Cruiser, two wrist watches, a gold necklace, a bracelet, two cell phones and Ksh22,000 all valued at Ksh2.8 million.
