Four principals constituting the One Kenya Alliance (OKA) have revealed that they are being forced into supporting former Prime Minister Raila Odinga's presidency in 2022.
Speaking in Githurai on Sunday, October 31, the principals, however, claimed that they would not be coerced into backing anyone for the Head of State job.
They further noted that they are preparing to unveil their flagbearer for the top seat in two months' time.
In his address, Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader Musalia Mudavadi disclosed that only Kenyans had the power to choose the leaders they wanted.
“It is Kenyans who have the power to pick the leader they want. Let us forget the propaganda being peddled around in to force some of us to support someone.
"I have said this before and I will repeat everywhere I go. Leadership comes from the people and the people must decide,” stated a visibly agitated Mudavadi.
The four including Musalia, Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka, KANU's Gideon Moi and Moses Wetangula of Ford-Kenya met the Head of State on Saturday, October 30, to chart the campaigns way forward.
ANC deputy party leader who is also Lugari MP Ayub Savula explained that the meeting between OKA chiefs and Uhuru was only aimed at persuading the four to support Raila.
“The President is meeting the OKA leaders at the State House because these are people who represent political parties, they have to consult.
"There is an issue of convincing and as Uhuru said before, opposition leaders have to unite because they have a common enemy but it is just an appeal, he cannot force them to support a particular person,” stated Savula.
Speculations are now rife that both Raila and Deputy President William Ruto are courting Kalonzo as their running mate.
It is believed that Kalonzo is the kingmaker in the 2022 General Election and sits of over 2 million Ukambani votes.
