"At the scene we found blood spots which signified that he (Otsianda) bled and that's why we became suspicious of the events."

The family was forced to travel to Mombasa County early in the morning in a bid to source for answers regarding their kin's demise. After waiting for hours at a police station, they were given access to the CCTV footage.

The deceased's sister, Dorothy, had spoken to the teacher late in the night and ascertained that all was well the night before the tragedy.

"I spoke to him and informed him that since we had an event adjacent to where he was staying, I'd pay him a visit. At around 10:00 pm, I met his friends at the gate. They informed me that there had been a drowning incident and they needed me, as the next of kin to head to Diani beach hospital."

"Upon arrival, the doctor stated that he was bleeding from the mouth. They tried to perform CPR but he did not make it," she stated.

The father pointed out that he wasn't aware that his son was in Mombasa until after he was notified of the incident. The family urged the police to speed up with investigations in order to bring the culprits to book. Further, they sought for the three friends, who were in the accompany of Otsianda, to provide information on what transpired on the fateful day.

The sentiments from the family were shared by sources privy to the matter who intimated to Kenyans.co.ke that during the weekend, there was a scuffle among the four friends, which led to a fight around the swimming pool area.

Diani OCPD Fanuel Nasio had affirmed that they would follow all the leads adding that detectives from the DCI were reviewing the CCTV footage.

"I have talked to the investigators they are following that lead it is being alleged that he was beaten and then thrown to the swimming pool. So they are going to review that CCTV footage," he noted.

He also urged any person with vital information to come forward in order to aid in the investigations.

"Let them come to us or the investigating officer, as for now if there are suspicion that maybe he was killed and then thrown into the swimming pool then we shall take that lead, and we shall investigate it and if anyone is culpable then we shall arrest them," he pointed out.
