Mt Kenya Foundation leaders met with Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga and during the speeches, one thing was clear; President Uhuru Kenyatta was the powerful man calling the shots.

The group led by billionaire businessmen revealed that they were going to back Raila's bid for the presidency after wide consultations amongst themselves and advice from Kenyatta.

During the speeches, the billionaires, politicians and clergymen stated that they had decided to attend the Azimio la Umoja meeting at Kasarani Stadium on Friday to show their solidarity with Odinga.

They also cautioned Mt Kenya against going contrary with Kenyatta's vision of uniting Kenyans arguing that there will be tears in future for the region if they don't heed the president's call.

Speaking during the meeting the Mt Kenya Foundation also issued demands for Raila and vowed to mobilise all resources to support his bid for State House.

MKF Chairman Peter Munga stated that the entity will be reaching out to all communities in the country and bringing them together to support Raila and attend the Azimio convention.

"In the MKF we had a meeting of the Mt Kenya North. The ten counties from Mandera to Turkana to Marsabit under the UPYA Movement. So Friday morning, you leaders and the leaders of UPYA will convene here early in the morning and we'll walk to Kasarani for the Azimio La Umoja," the founder and Executive Director of Bell Industries Limited, Titus Ibui stated.

MKF stated they will not be comfortable with Kenyans being led by leaders who are clouded by shadows of graft and who have no solid loyalty to protecting the Constitution.

Political pundits opined that it was only a matter of time before MKF officially declared support for Odinga after some of the bigwigs from the group skipped the meeting with One Kenya Alliance (OKA) leaders.

The only notable bigwig from the Mt Kenya region at the event held at a hotel in Nairobi on Thursday, October 7 was banking guru Peter Munga.

Media mogul SK Macharia, President Kenyatta's maternal uncle George Muhoho, former Kenya Chamber of Commerce Vice Chair James Mureu, among others were nowhere to be seen.

Their reasons for skipping the event which was rescheduled after being postponed was not immediately made public.
