The facility is run by Tribe Hotels Group. Speaking after receiving news of the award, Richard Barrow, the Food and Beverage General Manager at the company, welcomed the recognition terming it a first of more to come, further noting that it was a result of collective teamwork.

“The recognition of Hero Restaurant and Bar by The World’s 50 Best Bars is celebrated as a first for Kenya,”  Barrow stated.

"Ranking among the top 100 bars in the world is a testament to the skill and talent of our team; we hope to continue pushing the boundaries of Kenya’s culinary industry through our bars and restaurants.”

Among the criteria used to select the restaurants includes the efforts put in by restaurants in diversifying scenes and demonstrating resilience to overcome challenges they face.

Speaking during the ranking, Mark Ransom of the World's Best 50 Bars, noted that the new entries continue to be an inspiration to other emerging bars around the world.

Opened in September 2019, Hero Restaurant sits on the ninth floor of the Trademark Hotel at the Village Market along Limuru road. It operates Tuesday through Sunday from 11.30 am to 7.30 pm.

To beat the traffic, clients have the option of making reservations online on its website. The theme and menu of the joint are guided by the idea of the lifestyle of a superhero, including their diet.

Notably, the award was the second the joint has received this year. Earlier, bartender, Kelvin Thairu from the bar represented Kenya in the 2021 Diageo World Class competition while Chris Mbuo scooped another individual award locally.
