Bahati Member of Parliament, Onesmus Kimani Ngunjiri, on Friday, January 7, 2022, asked Eldoret residents to allow Deputy President William Ruto to focus on national politics henceforth.

The lawmaker was speaking during a meeting convened by United Democratic Alliance (UDA)-allied politicians ahead of the planned mega rally on Saturday, January 8.

Ngunjiri noted that their (Eldoret residents) small issues should not involve Ruto since he has bigger issues to think about.

"All I'm asking you is that you release the DP from tomorrow (Saturday). Your small issues are things that can be solved easily. Kitchen matters should not be referred to a person of his stature. Don't involve him at all," he remarked.

He stated that Ruto had traversed the country and planned to unite all Kenyans if he is elected President in 2022.

"Right now I can tell you, other than UDA, there is no party that has any signs of uniting Kenyans because they are led by tribal chiefs. Some are even referring to themselves as presidential candidates yet they can't be elected as MCAs. It's not logical.

"Ruto is ahead in Mt Kenya because he helped President Uhuru Kenyatta. It's now time to return the favour," he added.

Speaking at the same event, Kapseret MP, Oscar Sudi, revealed that they had decided to convene the mega rally in Eldoret because the town is the heartbeat of the North Rift region.

Further, he revealed that the area residents had released DP Ruto officially and given him their blessing as he seeks to become the fifth President of Kenya.

"We know Ruto's record since he was a Member of Parliament (MP). What's important is that we need to give him our blessings. You know in our Kalenjin tradition, when someone is about to embark on a journey, there are things that they are told. The person is also given food.

"We are planning to have another rally in Nakuru because it is the main centre. I want to tell all our supporters that this is a year of blessings in our country. As leaders, we have agreed that nothing is more important than peace. This will be the year of victory," Sudi noted.

Further, he revealed that "over 80 MPs have confirmed attendance at the event but we expect the number to be 90. Governors will be here and Senators."
