The Chairperson of the Azimio la Umoja campaign board, Ndiritu Muriithi, on Monday, January 10, castigated the manner in which the Jubilee Party won elections in 2013.

Speaking during a radio interview, Muriithi revealed that President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy, William Ruto, came into power by selling fear.

He noted that the then leaders of The National Alliance (TNA)  and United Republican Party (URP) party leaders strategy was to unite Kenyans in fear of a common enemy- the International Criminal Court (ICC).

"The truth of the matter is this, that in 2013, Jubilee was successful, but what were they selling?" He posed.

"They sold fear, fear of ICC, fear of 'Kimudu', but they won."

The Governor for Laikipia County admitted that the strategy used by Jubilee, the party through which he was elected, may have worked but it had its implications on the country and the sitting government.

"Winning using negative emotion is setting up the country for failure.

"The truth of the matter is that Uhuru has built far many more more roads than Kibaki (retired president Mwai Kibaki), did but the economy has not quite reacted because of the negative tone," the Laikipia boss noted.

Now at the helm of the Azimio campaigns, Muriithi hopes to package and sell positive messages using the outfit under the leadership of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader, Raila Odinga.

Kibaki's nephew revealed plans to have Azimio sell hope to Kenyans, just like Narc did in 2003.

He further drew parallels between the two political coalitions, stating that both were nationalist coalitions and that they respected democracy.

"We will not ask you to fold your party to join us, we will ask you to  come and form a coalition with us," remarked the Azimio campaign boss.
