Amani National Congress (ANC) leader, Musalia Mudavadi, has dared President Uhuru Kenyatta to arrest and charge Deputy President William Ruto if he indeed believes that he (Ruto) is corrupt.
Addressing a crowd in Malava, Kakamega County, on Friday, January 28, the ANC leader noted that Uhuru has all the government agencies at his disposal and should take the necessary action against Ruto if evidence proves that he embezzled funds.
Mudavadi wondered why the President had to wait until his final days in office to start accusing Ruto of graft.
"These people, if Ruto is a thief, you have all the authority, detectives who can investigate, why haven't you taken him to court all this while? It has been almost 10 years.
"You've waited until you have 180 days left in office to tell us that he is a thief. We want Kenyans to live and know that you can only be afraid if you have done something wrong," Mudavadi noted.
The ANC leader added had no regrets for inviting Ruto to his party's National Delegates Conference (NDC) on Sunday, January 23.
He explained that he has been seeking political partnerships and unlike other leaders, he would meet people during the day and not at night.
"I wrote to the DP and invited him to our NDC. I had told the nation that if I want to meet anyone, I will do it during the day in the open and say it because I am not afraid. I want to thank him and Wetangula for coming," Mudavadi appreciated.
The ANC leader noted that while they were at the Bomas of Kenya, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka and KANU's Gideon Moi decided to storm out of the venue when they heard that the DP was attending.
Mudavadi claimed that the duo did not want to be photographed with Ruto, adding that they were also afraid of the president.
“They were running away because of bad optics and because they are afraid of Uhuru Kenyatta. They thought he will ask them what they were doing at Bomas," he added.
A statement that was released by OKA coalition's spokesperson Fredrick Okango, stated that Kalonzo and Gideon had no option but to leave, following the arrival of DP Ruto and his UDA entourage.
OKA also confirmed that they officially parted ways with Mudavadi and were courting other leaders, including Narc-Kenya's Martha Karua.
