On Sunday, January 30, Narc Kenya party leader hosted the One Kenya Alliance (OKA) principals, Gideon Moi, Kalonzo Musyoka and Cyrus Jirongo in Kirinyaga County.

Karua was endorsed as President Uhuru Kenyatta’s successor in the event where the disk jockey (DJ) stole the show.

Sitting on the main tent was a young DJ, who showcased her skills on the deck using her feet. Kenyans.co.ke identified the DJ as Winfred Wanjiku, who is popular by her stage name - DJ Wiwa.

Born in Kirinyaga, she was diagnosed with cerebral palsy when she was six months old. However, she still managed to stand on her own by the time she was two.

Her parents took her to school, completing her primary and secondary education. Wanjiku then joined the university, where she pursued a degree in tourism.

While at the university, she was inspired by a guest speaker, who motivated her to pursue her career despite her condition

“A white man visited her school and encouraged her that everyone had a chance in life,” her mother stated in a past interview.

However, Wanjiku still struggled to find a job after she completed university. She resorted to hawking earrings alongside her friend who sold snacks within Kirinyaga town.

Guided by her passion for music, she decided to move to Nairobi. While residing in the city, she enrolled in a deejaying school. The school was receptive and allowed her to learn while seated on the floor.

“She is good, she has taste in music, she hypes the crowd,” her instructor, Alex Gichaga stated in a past interview.

While a student, she still expressed fear over whether she would get money from her passion.

Nonetheless, she kept up and she began getting contracts to entertain in various factions: weddings, birthdays,  graduation ceremonies and political events

Martha Karua and her team entrusted her with entertaining her audience, and she used the opportunity to demonstrate she was not disabled but merely abled differently.
