Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have summoned Suna East MP Junet Mohamed over the incident that saw Azimio la Umoja Presidential candidate Raila Odinga's chopper pelted with stones.

The legislator took to his social media to share the message sent by the DCI, informing him to appear at the DCI offices on Tuesday, April 5.

Junet had accompanied the former Prime Minister to Jackson Kibor's burial in Uasin Gishu County and was among the first people to break the news of the Friday, April 1, incident, alleging that the attackers made an attempt on their lives.

"(On Friday) we almost got killed in soy constituency Uasin Gishu County at the Burial of Mzee Jackson Kibor’s burial. Our chopper was completely destroyed and we had to look for alternative means mid-air," read part of his tweet.

Junet will be the fourth politician to be summoned over the incident as the police continue with their investigations.

Initially, Soy MP Caleb Kositany, his Kapseret counterpart Oscar Sudi and Uasin Gishu County speaker David Kiplagat had been summoned by the police, a day after the attack occurred. The three leaders had been accused of orchestrating the chaos.

The trio, however, denied the allegations, affirming that they were singled out due to political reasons. They heeded the summons on Sunday, April 3, at Nakuru DCI offices and underwent an intense five-hour grilling process.

"As politicians, we should desist from hiring goons to heckle others even at funerals. It is not African. They have questioned the youths and those who ferried youth are known but they have targeted those associated with Deputy President William Ruto," Kositany stated while at the DCI offices.

Currently, 17 suspects have been apprehended by the police over the matter. They are slated to face attempted murder charges, malicious damage to property as well as incitement.

Raila, while recounting the incident, noted that he was confronted by rowdy youths as he alongside his allies were trying to leave  Mzee Kibor's burial.

He added that the youths, carefully targeted the side he was seated on, however, they managed to scamper to safety.

"While in the chopper, I saw someone target me with a huge stone. Within no time, he had hurled the stone and I had nowhere to hide. They wanted to kill us," Raila stated at a rally in West Pokot.
